We have practiced it for generations and will continue to do so in the future. As the community changes, however, we recognized our need to change also. Mission Statement

The mission of the Fairfield Police Department, in partnership with the community, is to improve the quality of life by reducing the fear and incidence of crime, to recognize and resolve problems, and to fulfill the law enforcement needs of the citizens of Fairfield, Illinois.

Department Information

The Fairfield Police Department employs 13 full-time sworn officers and 4 dispatchers. Two of Fairfield's officers were hired after obtaining federal grant money. The first officer was hired after the department was awarded a COPS Universal Hiring Grant. The second officer was hired after the department and the local high school were granted a COPS in Schools grant. This grant allowed the department to hire an extra officer to take the place of another officer which was assigned to the high school as a School Resource Officer.  The Fairfield Police Department also has a full-time investigator and an officer assigned to the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
